A message from your President
I'm back from the Leadership Academy. It was a truly awesome trip. I got to meet with people from around the US, and a few from around the world, including the JCI President Roland Kwemain.

There was much to learn and glean from the trainings. Some of the trainning were weak, some didn't stay on topic, and some were way to short. There is a full writeup in the January issue of the C'Ville Minute. It should be out either tonight or tomorrow yet. As you know, I can't spell, so my spell checker is checking it for me.

There are going to be some big changes on the way. Our Board of Directors will getting together this weekend to finish up the Chapter Plan and review some Policy and ByLaw changes that I want to make, along with the discussion of some changes that I learned at the academy, and what to do about implementing them.

Membership Table
We are still looking for a table to buy for our membership table. I would like to have one at lest 6' in length. Also a reminder to our members, please, if you do not want your Michigander or the US Jaycee magazine, please turn them in at the meetings. This will give a chance for those who don't get to see them the opportunity to read them, and we can use these at our membership tables.

We are also in need of a nice display for our table. I want something more than just cardboard, but also know how expensive some of the nicer ones can be.

1st Quarter Convention
The 1st Quarter Convention, originally set for Mackinaw Island has been moved back to Boyne Mountain. This makes it much cheaper for our group. I want as many of us as possible to go. If we register for the basic early and get a condo, we can each go for as little as $70, not including food. Start thinking of going, if we get 10 in the condo, we can get it for about $25 a night per person!

From Darlene Dresch
Wow, just over 2 weeks into 2010 and we have made some amazing impacts across our state. Congratulations to all the chapters that have already offered the Jaycee opportunity to others in their communities so far this month we have welcomed 16 new Jaycees into our local chapters!!! Thank you for sharing the Jaycees and impacting their lives, now let's go out there and offer it to even more members of our communities that are 21 to 40! We have 2 weeks left in January and that is still plenty of time to remind those members that haven't renewed why their involvement WILL make a difference in their communities and why the Jaycees is the organization for everyone 21 to 40 in your community to improve themselves and the communities they live in.
I was honored to represent all of you, along with 10 fellow Michigan Jaycee leaders, in Tulsa for the US Jaycee Leadership Academy. During these 4 days we received many new tools and resources as well as a few new programs to role out all of you, please watch for this information as it will be uploaded to our website this week as well as be added to the CD's we are creating for all of you.
We were also introduced to an amazing speaker/trainer/motivator named Matt Booth, and I am pleased to announce that Matt will be joining us in November at our Annual Meeting in Midland. Matt has a great message and firmly believes that everyone has the ability to succeed if they have a positive attitude and I completely agree and can not wait to have Matt join us in November, until then I encourage you to check out his website at www.mattbooth.com.
